A Shaman can wear cloth, leather, and chain mail armor types.
The Shaman is the healer for the primitive races of Norrath. While lacking the direct healing power of the Cleric, the Shamans array of offensive and statistic buffing spells make up for it. At high levels, a Shaman can summon a wolf companion to aid him in battle. Shaman can use blunt weapons in addition to the traditional Shaman's spear.
In addition to direct healing spells, a Shaman has spells that can increase a player's strength, stamina, dexterity, agility, charisma, and running speed for an extended period of time. A Shaman has a full series of poison and disease spells, which can slowly damage an enemy. A Shaman's most powerful ability is his power to weaken the enemy by slowing their attacks.
While the healing spells provided to a Shaman allow him to act as a healer in a group, the Shaman may struggle to keep up with the amount of healing a full group can require at higher levels.
In a group where you are the only healer, your first duty will be to slow the enemy's attacks. If you are unable to slow the rate of attack, you will have a hard time keeping the party alive. If your group has a Cleric or another Shaman or Druid assisting, you will still be responsible for slowing the enemy, but will then use the rest of your energy to poison the enemy or increase the stats of your teammates.
