Hello,

I am new to EverQuest Mac and wanted to stop in and say hello to whoever is active on the forums!

I'm an EQ PC Veteran, I played a Wizard from November 1999 until shortly after OoW.

Whenever anyone asks about my EQ days, I tell them the peak of the game for me was Luclin and the Planes of Power. My wizard was flagged elemental, and I tell them that the fight I will never forget is the Rallos Zek fight that got me that access.

I knew about Al'Kabor, but always assumed it was just the same as any other server - until yesterday. I was feeling nostalgic for EQ so I checked to see if I could play it on my mac and I discover that not only can I play on my mac, but that that mac server is only updated through PoP!!

So I re-created the mac version of my wizard last night. I read that I should not expect to run into many players my level, which will be exciting and difficult at the same time, but I'm sure I'll manage. I was quite adept at quadding from 29+, and I have fond memories of camping the AC in uguk and his PH's for hours and hours, getting decent xp and sometimes loot!

Anyway, that's a little about my EQ history. I'm looking forward to see'ing everyone in game!

I played on PC (Bristlebane) over a more or less similar time period. RZtW was my favorite PC win as well, and it's also one of my favorite fights here on Al'Kabor! I also spent many hours with that damn crocodile in Guk, though my memories of her aren't so fond.

Welcome aboard! Always nice to see a new face on Al`Kabor, especially nice to see another Wizard join our ranks.

As others mentioned make sure you /autojoin Alliance. That channel is a blessing as you level up on this server with our lower population. If you ever need a hand just ask.

Being an ex PC raider from 99-2003 myself...i can tell you from experience that this server is amazing as far as content goes. You will love reliving the nostalgia and it is still the most compelling and immersive time of the game imo.

With that being said, about 1/2 the people on the server have reservations about accepting people who have skill and raiding experience. Most of the veterans on this server have very frail egos and want to "teach" you how to do things. If you already know everything they will find you "arrogant".

My best advice for you is to act as if you are a brand new player when you log in, saying you are an ex eqpc vet will do nothing but hurt you if you are planning on joining a raiding guild later on.

Dont let me discourage you though, this server is amazing and with the right community could be the best thing ever.
