For those who care, here is picture of Lion running in a Parallels VM on Snow Leopard. It took me a while to figure it out since the documentation from Parallels on how to do this leaves out several important details, and is actually sometimes misleading. For example, once you create the virtual machine and begin the install procedure, Parallels (inside the VM) asks where to "install" Lion. This is misleading because what it's actually asking is where to put the downloaded install files. This is important because unless you know that it appears that the installer is going to overwrite your Snow Leopard volume, which isn't the case and doesn't actually happen.

No, nobody can as far as I know. Only Snow Leopard Server can be installed in a VM (at least legally). Besides, why would I want to do that?

If you buy a new machine and can't boot from Snow Leopard than maybe I could understand wanting to run in a VM, and there are a few apps at my office that will only run (with a hack) in SL. Other than that I don't really see much point in it unless maybe you are a programmer and need both for testing. I'd probably just buy a used Mac Mini in that case.

With Lion running in a VM I can at least get to know the OS and any new apps needed for it without wiping out SL.
