Trying to figure out what the problem is here and trying to avoid as much as I can getting a new system altogther.

Currently running a PowerMac G5 2.5ghz Quad with 6GB ram, OSX 10.6

I have two problems with it.

First and foremost, when 2 boxing using spaces, I get a lot of crashes and freezes. Sometimes I play for 3 hours straight without issue. Others, it takes several attempts and restarts just to get both accounts online at the same time.
Typically when there's a problem what will happen is that the mouse will freeze. This lasts for a few seconds until the whole system shuts down. Monitor reads, "no signal". However, if I move the mouse or hit a key on the kb, it will come back up. Sometimes the accounts will still be logged in and working. It may come back up and I might still be in the game, but usually not and I'm at desktop. System is going into sleep mode for some reason.

Second issue and one I doubt anyone will be able to help with is that about 75% of the time when turning this machine on, OR when bringing back from the sleep mode, the machine will throw a breaker. This leads me to believe this is a power issue. This issue I can live with, but not the crashing and freezing.

Now anything else I do when EQ is not running never results in a problem. Browsing web, email, whatever; never an issue.

Anything I might be able to try before having to throw down on another box?

Have you already followed all the suggestions here?

As for the breaker, typically a computer will kick on all its fans, give full power to all devices, busses, etc when turning on or coming out of sleep until it gets an idea of how much power it really needs to use for all those. Go buy a cheapy UPS and it should solve your problem by buffering the power draw a little. Only other option is to move it to a different circuit without as many things on it.

Edit: Also 10.6 on a PowerPC? you sure?

Yeah no dice, still the same old stuff...

I did reset SMU button and replaced the coin cell battery as well; no changes.

As far as throwing a breaker, when this started I moved the machine to its own circuit with absolutely nothing else on it. Threw that one too. This is the only device I have that throws a breaker and the only time I've ever had to flip a breaker in my house, ever.
Pretty sure these crashes are related and are power issues. I could try replacing the PSU but it may not even be the PSU that's causing the power issue despite being the most likely candidate. Probably will just end up ebaying this puppy as it works fine with everything but multibox eq, and get a new imac. I wonder how the base model 21.5" works with 2 boxing.

Try unplugging everything from the PSU, firing it up and putting a voltage meter on the various plugs?

Yeah I could do that. Problem is with it being intermittent it's going to be a spike somewhere and not constantly out of spec.

Well in any case I've solved more than a fair share of computer problems just by unplugging literally everything inside (processor included) and re-seating / rebuilding it. With a used PC you never know who might have been poking around in there and what might have been seated poorly.
