Introduction (Courtesy of Ravenwing):

During the Planes of Power expansion, the Everquest developers began introducing sets of simple quests to provide low level players with a set of armor (visible pieces only) and, in the case of melee characters, a magical weapon. These quests, which mostly called for items dropped by low level NPC's close to starting cities, were to be individual to each class/race combination and available to all characters.

Unfortunately, the new quests were added to the game gradually, one city (and sometimes one or two classes in a city) at a time. As such, not all quests had been introduced when the EQMac code split from EQPC, and many race/class combinations do not have these armor sets available to them on Al'Kabor.

The table below links the various class quest NPC pages on Allakhazam's and indicates whether or not that set of quests is functional on Al'Kabor. It represents a compilation of anecdotal information provided by EQMac players, and is therefore a work in progress. If you can provide missing information, or discover an error in the table, please reply to this thread and the list will be updated to reflect your contribution.

Finally it should be noted that this armor has been upgraded PC-side since its introduction, and so the stats on Allakhazam's, even for the pieces that do exist on Al'Kabor, do not reflect the actual stats of these items in game. The Gloves of the Leafrunner (wood elf druid), for example, are listed on Allakhazam's as 4 ac, 6 wis; in fact, these gloves are 3 ac 1 dex 3 sta 1 wis on Al'Kabor.

Nevertheless, many of the quest rewards remain excellent for the difficulty of the monsters involved, and most can be done by a low level toon while EXPing. So happy hunting!

Please note, the class name is a link to either the quest giver information, or the quest page, on Allakhazam.

The Dark Elf Necromancer quests for newbie armor in Nek forrest (called unholy silk armor) are only partially working. Several of the pieces call for Deathfirst Scout Scalps which DO NOT drop on the Mac server.

I found this out the hard way after spending to FULL weekends trying to get the 5 Deathfist Scout Scalps needed to finish the armor. Not a single one dropped. It is definitely a broken quest.

Actually. They do exist. I finished a pair of Nvenea (my cleric)'s bracers and they required 1 scalp each bracer. Theyre just wanderers between 2-3 camps and thus hard to find up. Basically kill the placeholder (leg, templar iirc) wanderer orcs and hope scouts spawn and then... drop the scalps

Typical rare spawn rare drop kinda quest :(

As noted above the Halfling Druid newbie quests do indeed work, however the rewards are different then the ones listed in Allakazam. This is what I got ...

Moss Toe Boots ... AC 3 - STR +1 - DEX +1
Moss Toe Bracers ... AC 2 - WIZ +1 - HP +3
Moss Toe Cap ... AC 3 - STA +1 - WIZ +1 - HP +3
Moss Toe Gloves ... AC 3 - DEX +2 - WIZ +1
Moss Toe Leggings ... AC 5 - STA +1 - WIZ +2
Moss Toe Sleeves ... AC 3 - STA +2 - Wiz +1
Moss Toe Tunic ... AC 7 - WIZ +2 - HP +5

Human/Half Elf Qeynos Rogue is at least partially doable, but some drops appear not to exist.

Human/Half Elf Freeport Rogue is doable with the possible exception of the tunic (I'm still waiting for a snake skin to drop or not)

Human Qeynos Shadowknight is doable on Al'Kabor

If Human Qeynos Enchanter exists, then so do the Magician and Wizard (it's the same outfit)

Human qeynos evil enchanter (out of the catacombs) do exist. Plague something or other. I plan on putting the quests on the wiki, at some fairly near point.

The quests that involve getting the Deathfist Scout Scalps are confirmed broken because the scalps do not drop.

There are 4 spots that the scouts or it's placeholders spawn. Two north of the river and two south of the river.

I spent three weekends killing scouts to try and get the five scalps I needed. In over 30 hours of scout killing I still had not gotten a single scalp.

I got a hold of support via e-mail and they confirmed the quest is broken. It may have worked at some point but it is confirmed broken right now.

I remember there was some scalp needed for the Warrior newb armor that I was unable to get, (even slaughtering orcs for days with Yen). Probably it was "Orc Templar Scalp" for the weapon. I got other scalps -- probably Deathfist Scout Scalp -- but not the Templar ones. IIRC, the Templars dropped scout scalps. I finally gave up.

(Note that Illyas lists many required orc bone drops as dropping only in Crushbone. It's not true, they also drop from the orcs in Nektulos)

That is very intruging because as I was killing the West Commonlands Rangers, I was sending my pet out to kill out whatever orc-looking model that wandered by me and I'm certain that I saw a pair of Deathfist Scout Scalps drop for me. I'm not sure if I sold them to the vendor or destroyed them, so you might want to check the druid ring merchant. So, it cannot be broken if they dropped for me...

I've learned to not quite take SoE's word for everything on the server. ;)

No and you can't trust Alla's either, and not just because some things have updated. The dark elf newb armor was never well commented on, and there are errors and omissions in several places.

The rogue armor requires halfling bones, and some of those drop from the halfling skeletons. This was important to me with Yen, because she didn't want to mess up faction in Rivervale. She was able to make several pieces of her armor, including the gloves and (I think) boots and bracers.

The information on dark elf warrior armor on Allas implies that you need to kill in crushbone, which is not true, and if you listen to it you'd mess with your own (Indigo Brotherhood) faction (dark elf warriors are allied with Faydark orcs).

I never tried the other ones so I can't speak to them. (Though it seems to me that when I farmed for zombie skins in the undead area near the zoneline to Lavastorm, I'd get drops from cleric or shadowknight quests.)

Online GM's are generally not very knowledgeable of Al'kabor oddities.

I will again, VERIFY that scout scalps drop, and that my priest has a pair of "Bracer of the Darkpriest" (look it up, and see what it requires for the quest, ohhh yes, 1 Deathfist scout scalp per.)

The set was completed within the last 4-6 months. (No, I dont recall when I started playing on here, hehe, exactly)

The 4 spawn points you mention colloborate with what I found. Although I dont think I found the 4th one. I would occasionally see a seemingly random scout, which probably was the 4th spot.

PLEASE, send me a tell on Fanglore OR Nvenea, I am glad to bust out of the bank those bracers and show you physically (you inspect me, links can be manufactered on this server) that they do exist. I cant send you a tell about it since I assume your name is not "noyb1234" in-game :P

This server does not see patches, changes to the game, or anything of the like, hasn't for years. I believe you have just had rotten luck having them drop.

Yeniu, very funny that you mention the Deathfist Templar Scalp, That was my MAAAAAAJOR block on finishing my set of DE Cleric newbie armor, That darn thing took forever and ever and some more time... and add some more time... to drop. :P So yes, It exists! :)
