I usually browse the general public section for all the guilds from time to time to see what's happening. Over at Vintage there is all kinds of Craziness.

It all relates, I think, to them being guild0. There is already a post about that but here is the new problem

Someone decided to create another guild (a rare occurence normally) and when they did they became guild0. Since there was already a guild0, all the members of Vintage are now members of fantasie Impromptu (FI) guild along with all the members of the new FI guild.

So far the GM's are baffled on how to fix it. If anyone can help those two guilds out, I'm sure they will appreciate it.

On a side note if you decide to create a guild today, you will start out with about 45 active members...although they might be 45 pissed off members...

From what I learned last night chatting with our GM, AK apparently has a finite number of guild slots that can be used. A few years ago, we had an issue where all the guild tags got screwed up. The "solution" was to delete the guild tag file on the server side and reform all guilds. That, however, didn't quite work out the way they intended either. It was supposed to clear everyone's tag, but as it turned out, when older inactive members reuped their accounts after the "fix" they would end up in whatever guild had the same guild number in which they previously were members. (example, Temerity used to be guild2 but after the fix we became guild5, we had players come back to the game who suddenly found themselves in Dark Conquest /gu...and some DC players that found themselves in Temerity /gu. DC was guild5 and became guild2 after the fix)

That said, our GM knows it is a problem and is working to try to come up with an actual real solution for us. This may turn into a benefit for us because it may require some coding fixes and I can try to use this to leverage SOE into getting us a part time programmer.

In the meantime, file the web petitions describing the issue (the more documentation of complaints the better) and don't forget to put in the first line of your petition:

Please forward to Zaebrix

I just posted a petition to get the issue fixed as well,

This sounds like the same issue as what happened when our current guild "Vintage " was created... we had a hiccup where our original guild "Vintage" had dropped all members who were online, and the officers and leaders were no longer able to invite members into the guild. A GM logged in to assist me with the issue, which we did by creating a brand new guild named "Vintage " with a space at the end... it then merged all members of the old guild into this new guild, which at the time was an unexpected side effect to creating a new guild, but was a desired effect, so we thought nothing of it.

Now with this new guild being created, this is not a side effect we want happening. Will all new guilds from now on be effecting our guild with this bug? There must be a database query or table that is not being updated correctly when guilds are formed... Hopefully our guild to be restored and some testing done by admins or coders so this does not happen to us again in the future. Vintage has had problems with it's guild name since the beginning, I have had to send a petition in once a month to get the same issues resolved...

It does sound like what you are saying about the finite number of guilds on the server could be true. The original Vintage was ID 0, this new guild that was created (with the space at the end) was probably also ID 0, and now FI is 0.. What we need is a database admin, developer and QA on this issue so it get's fixed and doesn't happen again to any guild!

On a side note it's nice to see some activity on the guild forums again, even at the expense of our guild lol. I can start posting updates to our progression guild's progress if everyone on eqmac is interested, or it can also be found on our website http://www.eqvintage.com. We're about 2-3 months out from opening Kunark to our members after we farm more planar gear for our members and start our attempts on the dragons Naggy and Vox!

For the record, Fantaisie Impromptu was meant to be an alt guild for vintage with non classic restrained alts open to others as well that were interested in getting to know some vintage players but were not sure if they were ready to be classic restricted. At least this means that vintage is still technically in vintage hands just with a different tag and my 22 ranger alt Chopin as guild leader lol.

Hopefully it gets resolved soon so wej can stop blaming me for everything including the hole in the ozone layer

Finite number of guild slots sounds reasonable but I would have expected it to be 128 or 256, not 18. What developer would create an online game in which they are hoping to have 3k people and only give them 18 guild slots. I've seen more than 40 in the first day of Combine opening! That just can't be the issue. I don't see any developer being so shortsighted that they would expect less than 20 guilds being created in the entire history of the server. This just doesn't seem like the problem.

It can't be 18.. if you look at the Guild Contacts Thread (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=868) there are at least 32 guilds listed, and I realize that thread was originally posted like 5 years ago, but would it be too much trouble to add Vintage's contact info on there? I've sent PM's to the moderators but I guess it's not a thread that gets updated anymore? Anyways, if anyone's able to update it, our leaders are Dunkirk, Wejbot and Saittane. And we're Guild ID 0, apparently!

I agree that was long time ago and they have since cleared all the old guilds and started over.. per post in this thread. I came up with less than 20 because the last 2 guilds I remember were DHS which is 17 and Confessors which is 18 and Vintage which is -0-. Not very scientific but still very small number allowed so doesn't make sense to me

If it is 32.. then a solution is to take over one of the long disbanded guild numbers (instead of reusing -0- over and over.) They aren't using it but if one of them rejoins I guess they would automatically be in your guild, which would be interesting.

Well this looks like what they are doing right now. If you create a new guild another guild has to be deleted. (Deleted is really the wrong word to use base on how it seems to be happening. I would call it more of a renaming of the guild since any prior member of the guild would automatically become a member of the new guild.) Hopefully this is just a temporarty solution.

I heard all sorts of strange rumors including the guild Destiny being merged with another guild for a period of time. *shrugs* I hope they write good instructions for the next time or no telling which guild might be eliminated in the process.

We were merged for a bit.

Someone else n /gu, a non-Destiny member was the guild leader, I think simultaneously with Manlee still being the guild leader, but not certain if Manlee still was.

I sent a tell to the GM that was on (from my alt Dill) and he fixed the matter within 5 minutes or so and got back to me.

For a tad, I could do /who all guild1 and it would report Destiny, but / in zone would report all Destiny members as still in the Fantaisie guild.

I guess if we're stuck with this bug, then we might be capped at only 18 guilds, so we'll have to figure out with guild numbers are truly dead.

18 does seem a strange number though, could imagine 16 or 32 or some power of 2, but 18 would be strange.

Later on, I saw that Vintage was back, and back at being guild0.

I also heard that one of their members currently has guild leadership abilities for ALL guilds at the moment, I think it was the same peep in /gu with us that said he was the leader, Chopin or something like that.

Come to Al'kabor, where the bugs are big, but friendly.

The GM's were working with Chopin yesterday evening to create Fantaisie Impromptu and as expected many members from Vintage were dropped from the guild and it looked as if the guild was deleted. By the time I logged in about 45minutes later, Vintage had been restored, Fantaisie was deleted, and Zaebrix was online to make sure everything was honkey dory.

While talking with Zaebrix, he confirmed the 18 guilds limit and that no new guilds would be created on Al'Kabor for now. I suggested that they reuse inactive guilds where all accounts in the guild had been inactive for 60+ days, promote a new character to take guild lead and then rename the guild. I also suggested DHS's guild ID 17, since I knew for sure they officially disbanded 60+ days ago, and he replied saying it's possible but he needed a character that was still in DHS to promote to GL in order to use any guild delete/rename or create commands. Luckily, some of our members still had alts that were in the DHS guild, so we were able to use this method to create Fantaisie Impromptu without affecting any other guilds on the server.

From my experiences with FI being created and the mix up causing Chopin to become an additional GL of Vintage, it did not affect any other leader or officer status's of other characters in the guild except the officers that were dropped at the exact moment the guild was deleted, so I'm sure Destiny's GL is still GL. Also, a guild can have more than one GL (through troubleshooting all of our issues with our guild name, Vintage ended up with four GL characters).

Another thing to be aware of using the above guild renaming method, the original creator of the original guild is still entitled to reclaim his or her guild if they should ever wish in the future. So if DHS's guild creator wanted to have his guild back, FI would either be renamed to DHS and a new FI would have to be created, or a new guild would be renamed to DHS and given to him, as far as I understood.

Lastly, I don't know what SOE has planned as far as fixing this issue with new guild creation, or if they will use the guild renaming method in the future. I'm just explaining what had happened to get Vintage and Fantaisie Impromptu up and running yesterday.

For those of you who don't know, Fantaisie Impromptu was an idea that spawned on our guild's forums to have an alt guild for Vintage's alts who wanted to be tagged in a guild with:

A) Our PvP Alts and anyone on the server who wants to join with a PvP alt.
B) Vintage’s twinked, plvld, out of era, PoK-using, non-classic gear wearing alts.
C) Potential new Vintage apps who want to stay out of era and level up more before actually joining Vintage.

You'll be seeing a lot of Red Characters with the FI tag running around, and most of FI's members are also Vintage members, friends or potential future apps... Feel free to group with us or join on a red character alt that you want to create, this is basically an open "Alt Guild" that was made for fun and so alts could find each other to play and pvp together...

I apologize wholeheartedly to the server for the guild name fiasco in the past few days, we did not intend on breaking the guild creation on the server, affect Destiny's guild in the process or rename DHS, but those were all things that had happened in the process and hopefully the GM's will have either fixed or learned from this experience so the next guild(s) that are created on Al'Kabor won't be such a mess.

Yes hello Chopin is my alt. As far as I know, he is still in destiny and still has guild leader status and chances are if you /guildstatus him with any guild it will show up as leader. The issue with removing him from guilds is that since he has lead status it won't let him drop unless leadership is passed but when you try to pass leadership you just get an unknown guild message. I've learned after experimenting with Zaebrax last night that the only way to get rid of him is if he uses leader status to delete the entire guild which is obviously very troublesome.

As such, I have decided to never log him in again. I am afraid to just delete him because I fear it might just disband all guilds. So with the interest of the server in mind he shall sit on my log in screen until the end of time and guild lead of FI has been given to my new rogue alt named claves. Again I am terribly sorry for any inconvnience this may have caused.

Hello Al'Kabor this is my second post; the first one being my introduction. Being that I have been on the server for less than 2 days and my unguilded character is 5th level, I am very likely the least qualified person on the server to have and state an opinion on this matter. But guess what. I do happen to have an opinion on this matter and it should be quite obvious by now that I intend to state it. So here goes.

I have joiined Al'Kabor for the same reasons many have joined; I missed the old everquest from 8 to 10 years ago. This is a very positive of aspect of being forgotten by SOE(the do not have a mac programmer). Because of the lack of a programmer we know the content will remain the same, this is why many if not most of us are here. Obviously the down side is the bugs that have gone unfixxed for years. We can live with most of these bugs. It is my impression that most Al`Kaborians are people of integrity. However, it is likely that there is at least one person lacking the integrity that most of us have.

This is why I strongly feel that no one should be able to delete every guild on the server, no one should be guildleader for every guild and no one should have to quite using a character (even if it is only 22nd level) to maintain the harmony of the server. This bug seems serious enough to me that it needs to be corrected and not merely worked around. It is my strong and extremely unqualified opinion that SOE needs to temporarily hire a programmer to correct these bugs. It seems the bugs are well known and understood by those who have been on the server a while.
