Are the Dark Conquest forums down? I have been unable to load them for a few days now.

Yes they have been down for a few days now. The problem is on the host's side and we have to wait for them to fix it.

After investigating for several days and after numerous phone calls all over the country, I was finally able to find a little bit of information about what is going on.

The first thing to know is that the DC forums were created by Mack Daddy, DC's founder. I am not responsible for the site, nor do I know much about it. The problem is compounded by the fact that my only point of contact with Mack is through the site itself.

I found out that the forums are hosted by ECUi, an ISP in Florida (http://www.ecui.com). All my attempts at getting in touch with them have been unsuccessful, and all the phone numbers I found have been disconnected.

Eventually, I ran into the following thread:

Wow thats brutal Karp. Early on we had our previous site pulled without notice. We began investigating and the response was pretty rough, they said they were just doing a favor to a friend hosting our site and had no responsibility at all to help us... We did manage to pull most of our old information but it was very frustrating. We then moved to Guildportal where we have been for years. Guildportal certainly has their own issues, Temerity left Guildportal for some of them but they have been mostly stable in the 5+ years we have been there. Pathfinders, Horde and Sanctuary all use Guildportal as well.

I hope you manage to get all your information back.

December of 07, so you would be missing quite a bit (year and a half) but there might be some things you may want to save.

Oh MY!! That is horrible news! After reading through most of that thread there appears to be some hope that something can be done. I would be sick if my old guild website had died... all those memories. I really feel for all the DC members. I'm really sadden to hear this.

That IS sad news indeed. Of course I can only see the non-member stuff now, but I had saved PMs from friends that meant a lot to me. I'm very sad to lose those.

That is so very sad. I truly view our guild boards as an extension of the game and hope it's just a LARGE hiccup on the server's side. Good luck on getting it back.
