Major apologies for major writing mistakes. If I don't see the red line underneath my spellings sometimes, I assume it's correct. In this case, the word at fault completely changed the meaning of my sentence lol. Please accept my apology though, and read my PM. It seems my in game grammar is catching up to my RL grammar.

Anyway, some people on the smaller family guilds are pretty sensitive when it comes to defending their acheivements. I know I am. I hate it when people from uber guilds talk as if the Kunark Dragons are trash mobs (even if it's true for you). Those are goals we have set up for our members and our guild, and after reading that, how can we get our members up for that?

Dude, gotta get that MR up for dragon roar!

Loved raiding the Kunark dragons in Kunark and Velious eras, the competition was so high for them, it was a rush to be able to get a force before the other guy who's camping them 24/7!! I ended up hiring the Euro guild to kill Sev (before the HK guild did) to finish off my war epic.

When I came back after quitting my Warrior in Luclin, I skipped much of the content I had played with my Monk. Luckily for me, I was able to do the same thing again to sorta pick off where I was in PC with Temerity.

Kudos to you all for keepin it real

Okay, I gotta ask this burning question....

But I am suprised that the three smaller guilds: Pathfinders, Horde and Sanctury didn't just up and merge at one point making the Big 4 AK guilds. Was there some specific reason -- or just no real desire?

Merely curious -- because my guild experience is so different.

Hi Surface!

I'd like to weigh in on your question. While there are many similarities between us, we also have our own unique identities and histories within our guilds. We are proud of our names, accomplishments, and the tags we wear. It's as simple as that.

Could you imagine the name a combination of these three would be? Sanctuary for the Horded Pathfinders of Al`Kabor?

On occasion, we do join forces with other guilds for a common goal. Our Tuesday Asian Time Zone raid is open, and members from other guilds people often join. SoY are regular Turgid Tuesday raiders with us.

Pathfinders is actively recruiting and while we are a family guild, we are also a raiding guild with our sights on bigger targets and more exciting experiences as we grow our forces.

We have be made an "adjective"!!! hehehe

HAHA Miz - Love the name - that is awesome!

Better than what I could come up with.....

Pathies Hording Sanctuary
or
Hording the Sanctuary of Pathfinders

or perhaps

Pathfinding Horders of Sanctuary (of course, when you say this one out loud you need to yell it like The Hunchback of Notre Dame)

hehehe

All in all, I dont see how all the guilds are that much different, but in all honest truth, there are people from all the guilds that would never ever detag, so a merger of entire guilds could never happen.

Every guild is different and people need to find the best fit with their RL, playing style and other issues of importance to them. For me, having a healthy balance with RL is paramount, and that is one of the core values emphasized in our guild. We don't pressure our members to do what they don't want, or more than they can.

We emphasize forming friendships, respect for one another, having fun and to do so while progressing. It does not have to be a race... after all, the game is called Everquest for a reason....

The Horde is a very special guild... and we have slowly grown while keeping these core values intact and our friendships have only gotten stronger over time both with the core members who remain and new members who share our vision.

For me personally, and as one of the founders of The Horde... I made a vow that if need be, I will be the last Horde standing.

So, I am one of those that will never detag.

I actually tried to make an acronym first. I thought SHADDUP would be good - Sanctuary, Horde, Ascendency (or Alliance), Destiny, DarkConquest (darn that C), Unholy Nightmares (haven't seen any of them lately), Pathfinders.

{{{Willow}}} good to see you here :)

There are a few simple EQ "facts".

-Not everyone measures their EQ fun based on raiding.
-Or based on the uberness of the mob being raided.
-Or based on whether the raid is all with the same guild tag.

I personally find raiding Fear and Hate to be a blast. These are barely raid zones these days (you can clear the most of the zone with just 2 or 3 characters, if you're careful and patient).

My personal preferences are to raid with my guild. And I like to see progression in what we're raiding. So you can add to the facts above:

-Some targets on this server will always be raid targets (requiring 20 or 30+ people)

So for me, a guild like Sanctuary would be frustrating. I'm okay with slow progression, but I want to know the progression is possible. I want to know that if we do this right and that right and get this gear on the tank and that gear on the cleric, we can kill the next boss on our list. But the reality is -- 4 people aren't going to take down Aaryonar. Okay, *maybe* if they're equipped in elemental planes gear, but we're talking progression, not slumming.

But raiding is not the only reason people play this game.

Yes and you are right, it would be frustrating for somebody like you. Sanctuary doesn't progress like Destiny, and we don't have the man power to actually raid high targets, but I'm not sitting and drooling staring outside my guild for some guild I can jump on the bandwagon and immediately feel the thrill of killing uber MOBs.

We would all like to see our guilds progress in certain ways, maybe for you guys its the your kill list. We have a kill list as well. We used to be progressing well on it too, that was until RL hit the raid party, and not to mention that, many of my friends left for DC, Tem and Destiny because they could not deal with the slow down. Thats a decision they have made regarding their playtime, and there is no fault in that at all. But because a handful of us still stay loyal to our tag, I have to still stay here and dig and claw for Sanctuary's progression. Because we are essentially starting over with our progression, I would think as an outsider, they would be fascinated with a guild like Sanctuary because we essentially are rebuilding our goals and how we want to progress as a guild.

New people who come to this server actually have the chance to do all the things they missed when they joined EQPC and jumped on into an uber guild and skipped everything before the planes. And with people who still haven't seen it all to spoil the game for them. Thats what we are essentially. I am very hopeful for this, and glad we have new members to help with thier goals, and also in the future to help Sanctuary's progression once again.

I would like to add one thing though.

Players like Miuma, Sab, and myself who are still original Sanctuary members, have endured like very few others on this server. I once in a while imagine what if instead, fate would have us in another guild like Destiny or Pathfinders? I would say you would be pretty darned lucky to have such a loyal nucleus of nuts. Every guild has it's most loyal members. New members who join Sanctuary should welcome the thought that we will never break up even though we are small, progressing slowly, or raid with outsiders of our guild.

So we're a little behind, hehe... GUILD MOTD: Let's get that faction up. Woush is going down in June. Check websites for 3 upcoming dates.

Waam,

Sanctuary will always be held in high regard for me. I can, without reservation, say that every member is top rate and I have the nothing but love for them.

When I started on the server, the two guilds who impressed me the most were Pathfinders and Sanctuary in both their people and their philosophies. That is not to denigrate any other guild. It is just a matter of personal style. I went with Pathfinders primarily due to Stamm's (yes, he was a Pathfinder) unrelenting but comical approach - he made me laugh while he was being helpful and welcoming. People who make me laugh get bonus points.

I'd never try to woo anyone away, but I'd always welcome anyone from Sanctuary to join us on raids, in groups, or as a friend. One of my fave raids was a joint raid we did in Plane of Fear that Sanctuary set up.

Good luck to you and to us as we rebuild and move along in our progression.

I will second that... Sanctuary and Pathfinders have always impressed me with both the way they conduct themselves and their loyalty and play.

In many ways I believe a smaller guild pushes players to play their classes to the highest standards. Anyone can roll over a raid mob given enough healing/tanks/dps... but it takes artisans to eek out a kill when coming in as an underdog. I see big guilds are like a standing army, while smaller guilds are like special forces strike teams.

Much of my cleric's inspiration and play style comes from observing Miuma, who I consider a sense of sorts. Top to bottom a top notch player.
