So from what I can tell you all appear to be saying, "If you don't like what you see, go make your own"? Not the worst idea I've heard...

only problem with that is that there is little influx of NEW players, which will make recruitment hard. But an RP guild again would be cool to see around.

Frozen Poets of Velious was the RP guild. They went fishing, did signature / game art, and posted a lot on message boards, along with other stuff I am not sure about.

Heh. Saw their site earlier. Was expecting a lot different based on their name. Was disappointed afterwards.

I thought Companions of Norrath was the RP guild -- which is not to say that FPV isn't also. Just that CoN had the story telling at their site, the various events, etc.

What is striking to me is contempt that I see toward different game play styles -- from almost all directions. I don't care how others choose to play the game, whether they follow my own style or something completely different -- it's their dollars.

I suppose now there will be some he-said/she-said-they-started-it pissing and moaning, but geez, people, try laying off each other once in a while. Go play. Quit bitching because someone else doesn't pretend to be a lizard or whatever the same way you do.

If everyone just played halflings we wouldn't have this problem.

The fighting is because you are all members of inferior races.

I tried having my knees removed, but it wasn't good enough. Now I can only bow my head and hope to be confused with those more worthy than myself!

Not exactly true. The Poets are a RP preferred guild. If you do not roleplay, you can still enjoy the company of the other players. We did do a few photo (screenshot) contests and we organized some fishing trips, but for the most part, FPoV was more a band of gypsies roaming the lands than a dedicated RP guild.

Companions of Norrath was the roleplaying guild. They set up roleplaying scenarios in game and wrote stories on their website forums. Initially, they were not a guild, but an association of players from many guilds. Not long after they guilded in game, Laveaux stopped playing. From what I understand, Kakari was playing infrequently and that left everything to be done by Kenkaishin/Nogog. Many of the people associated with CoN were from other guilds and did not join CoN and it quietly passed away. I am certain Kenkaishin could provide more perspective on this, as it was his guild.

Thanks Kirrmarr: Yes, CoN was an RP association, not a guild, until much later in it's lifespan, We did formalize it into a guild but then it tanked about a month afterwards. It was not "my" guild, it was everyones who participated in it, and Laveaux was guild leader, I mearly added the color :D Alas it fell to lack of interest. Live and learn :D

Shortbread Army is great. We de-emphasize the competitive aspect of EQ and focus more on lending people a hand and having fun. The application process requires you to show basic competence without glory-hogging and such. It was founded for the shorter races, but the long-legged may join as well (they are required to give a gift of food to an SBA officer.)

Send a few chats through /1 ( i assume it is alliance), sometimes people forget it's there. We love to hear what you are doing and give suggestions/help.

Who's recruiting? Heck, I think all the guilds will take new players. Accept this as a formal invite to the Lollipop Guild. Send one of us a tell and we'll sign you up.
