Hail Al'Kabor!

After about 2 weeks of celebrating the holidays in Ak'anon, Grobb and Freeport, Vintage is back in full steam-rolling Velious mode! Our goals in the next few months will be NToV, Vindi/Statue, Sleepers Tomb, and the unlocking of the Cazic Thule zone. Anything else that stands in our way will fall to it's back!

If you're interested in being a part of our Progression-style guild, currently in the Velious expansion, head over to our website http://www.eqvintage.com/ and read about our 2011 wrap-up, our rules and charter. In the past few months, we've farmed 18 ST keys, completed multiple Dozekar quests, geared everybody in Skyshrine armor, and we're becoming a greener, meaner raid force in 2012!

For new prospects who are hesitant to join Vintage because we use a VKP system, you won't have to worry about not getting any loot on raids because we've already farmed the best gear possible for our expansion. Most drops on raids we know we can beat are being banked or going to alts, so YOU WILL GET UPGRADES, while the VKP system usually applies to new encounters with new loot tables. Our members are also very guild orientated and we realize we're only as strong as our weakest link. We'll set up XP sessions and help with quests, camps and raid gear. So don't fret gnomes, we'll make you big and strong too!

Happy New Years everyone! Looking forward to a prosperous year!

Dunkirk.

Wow, exploring the revamped Cazic Thule with a full group of level 60's actually sounds really fun! Lots of tough camps and quirky/useful drops to pursue. And of course NToV is one of the best raid zones in any MMO ever :) Exciting times, good luck guys.

So basically you want a bunch of new apps to help you progress, while they spend points and acquire gear none of the core members of vintage need... Enabling you guys to get to better content so the core players can always have a monopoly on the best new loot? Sounds terrible to me. Let me help you guys out on your DKP system.

Your VKP should be cleared every month. But Lron, what about all the players who put in months and months worth of work in helping everyone get geared while not attaining any loot because they have it all? All of this work should be rewarded right?

Glad you asked, this is where you add "power points" to every single member who misses 2 or less raids a month(this number can of course be altered depending on your guild). Each power point is worth an allocated number of "VKP" that a member is allowed to use on a specific item as a type of trump card. How does this work? Glad you asked.

Say Warrirorman is your main tank and has all the gear he needs from all the current content you can farm but continues to raid and have high attendance every month because he wants the guild to progress. Because he spent the previous 5 months raiding with the guild with no loot allocated to his persons(even if he did receive loot he would still get the power points if the attendance was met), he will have 5 "power points." Lets say that all power points are worth 10VKP. (This number can be altered of course)

Now, lets say you guys decide to plane a raid on AOW and are successful at the end of next month, but warriorman has been busy with work and school and can only log in for this 1 raid on this particular month.

NewTank has become a new member in the month Warriorman has been on hiatus and has filled the roll as main tank in Warriorman's absence. Because of this, Newtank has 35 VKP for the month, and Warriorman has 0.

Considering all the work Warriorman has done for the guild, it would be a shame for NewTank to get the Helmet of Rallos Zek just because Warriorman has had some RL issues the past month. This is when Warriorman gets to use his "trump card" and bid his 5 power points that are worth 50vkp accumulatively and therefore is awarded the helmet of rallos zek because of his accumulated power points for being such an asset to the guild in the past months.

This fixes the problem with old school members always having monopolies on the newest/best loot while simultaneously encouraging high attendance regardless of a member's veteran status.

So this fixes all the problems with your loot system and i look forward to you guys heeding my advice and implementing it for the health of your guild and the server at large.

1. The entire accumulation of power points has to be used when bidding on an item.
2. Extended hiatuses of 3 months or more require a month of high attendance before you are able to activate your accumulated power points again.
3. Power Points are never cleared unless you use them.

Lron, if you'd worked as hard in college as you just did on that set of loot guidelines for a guild which has, to date, shown zero interest in any of your constructive criticism - you might not have to be a garbage man any longer

As for Vintage, good luck on your quest toward NToV

New vintage members have not had any problem getting good loot. Personally, I would welcome Newtank to pick up any slack from Warriorman over here.

Thank you for the pointers though, Lron. Keep up the hard work.

Unsolicited advice for the win. Their loot policy seems quite reasonable. It rewards long-term effort and dedication but will also will gear up newer applicants very quickly.

Thanks for your well thought out loot system Lron, unfortunately you are about 2+ years too late for us to implement what seems to be the ideal, perfect and flawless solution. All new members will have to suffer being hundreds, if not millions of VKP behind the members who have been raiding with us since Vintage was formed.

Let me shed some light on how loot typically works for new members in our currently flawed VKP system.

A new warrior joins our ranks and is high enough in level to start raiding with the guild. Since we only have one active and consistent warrior on our raids, yes, he will of course get first dibs on all new raid loot where he is present for the raid. Once he gets, lets use your example, a Helmet of Rallos Zek, the next one that drops will go to the new warrior, regardless of how much VKP he has, if he is in attendance and an active raider. The upgrade would benefit himself and the guild as a whole.

This situation is true across many of our classes. We have one active enchanter who always passes on any loot where other casters would benefit from more. We have one active paladin, one active ranger, one active shadowknight, zero active necros... We have four bards, all of which are boxes and alts, and our VKP rules state that a bard that is played as a Main will receive loot before boxes and alts.

Honestly, if all you want is loot, there is all the opportunity you could ask for right there.

Our raiding core has been together a long time, we haven't had many new members in the past few months who have stuck around, for whatever the reasons, this is true. Thus, most of our members are well decked out for our expansion and ready to raid and plunder the expansion. Inviting new members who want to be a part of this experience and to help Vintage progress is not a mischievous scheme to help our core get better loots.

If you polled the members of this guild, we've stuck together through the ups and downs that we've had because this is the niche gaming style we ENJOY from EQ. This isn't about loots as much as it is reliving the experience of raiding NToV in Velious gear like we did a decade ago.

So, Lron, this guild may not be for you (since we obviously don't have Power Points), but we hope that others and new players to our server can see what we're trying to do and that we're as fair as we can be to all our members, old or new.

Oh hey Lron i guess you got tired of harassing us in open channels during our raids and accusing of us cheating. I guess instead of following us around you spent that time to help us be better.

Thank you for spending time and attention on a matter that doesn't need time and attention.

Feel free to use your own system on a guild you lead. However please note that would require people to listen/follow you.

While i will never win a prize for being the nicest warmest cuddly person ever, I am able to lead Vintage with Dunkirk from expansion to expansion and have tons of fun doing so along the way even if you harass us for no reason during our raids where you call us cheaters with no proof as we dont cheat. Very classy i might add.

Also i created our current loot system. The most common complaint is WHY didnt so and so win the item? well so and so didnt want it. In most cases the best of X class doesnt take the best loot. Thats how Rangerman got a braclet of speed before Warriorman. I have always welcomed suggestions to the loot system from members(the guys that know how it works you know) and when the suggestion works out and is better then what is in place it gets modified.

Everyone that shows up to raids gets gear and lots of it.

Besides trying to make us look bad to new members was there a point to your response Lron? I didnt think so.
