what is viewport? i'm noticing on most all UI screen shots the actual game view is a box much smaller than the screen with the UI outside of the "screen view" in its own blacked out area..whats this about? do i have to have it like that? looks very ugly lol

If you type /viewport and then some numbers, such as 110 110 1200 750, it will manipulate the portion of your monitor showing EQ (example: /viewport 110 110 1200 750.

Apparently, doing so in combination with keeping all of your UI off of the EQ portion of the screen can reduce lag and make it easier on your system.

So, if you're playing without any lag right now, then I suppose you don't have to worry about /viewport, unless you later decide that you want to for cosmetic reasons.

I tried using /viewport and removing UI overlap, but I did not observe reduced lag.

I also have done this on a computer where I averaged 15-20fps (so a 5fps increase in fps would have been quite noticeable) to no avail. The only thing I've found which reduces lag is keeping as little text as possible on the screen. If I reduce my chatfontsize my fps drops by 20.
