Ok so i havnt used a mac in 12+ years since i was in grade school and i have no idea what im doing. After figuring out the basics which is a pain in the ass using a one click mouse until i started using my pc accessories it got better

I have a Macintosh Desktop Dual 867MHz PowerPC G4 (2GB DDR SDRAM Two Hard Drives: 60 GB & 75 GB. . Video Card: Nvidia GeForce4 MX (32MbVRAM)

I got into the game np. When i loaded into akanon half of the gnomes had on rainbow clothing while half of them didnt. Took the easy way out and attacked a merchant.

When i got outside i ran and found a spider as soon as i attacked the spider EQ crashed

After that i decided maybe it would run better in windowed mode

After modifying the ini to make the game windowed i tried to login again

Now everytime i hit character select even before players are displayed the game crashes on me.

Is there something im missing?

Do you make it successfully past the point where you hit "play" and then the EQ art comes up while the EQ App loads? Or does it crash soon after hitting play?

no i get the pop loading screen and as soon as it finishes loading characters and w/e witty comment it has it crashes

In that case I may have a fix , though no science behind it. Before hitting play hit model options, or settings and then when that window comes up just hit OK to save your setting and then try hitting play.

I had this same problem and this fixed it, eventually I didn't even have to do this and I can now just hit play. Worked for me hope it does for you!

ok but what about crashing when i attacked a spider?

Don't attack the spider!



J/K....it's probably sound related. Turn off sound in the game options before you click play game.

alright sounds good ill give both of those a try in about 30 minutes and see what happens

ok now i can get in, in full screen mode and attack stuff but when i put it in windowed mode and hit play the screen just goes black and i dont get a loading graphic and i dont seem to get to character select.

Any suggestions?

videocard = 32

turn off mipmapping and get a 64MB video card. 32 is a bit weak for EQMac.

it is turned off. Turned off all options already. and getting a better video card doesnt fix my issue~

I'm not sure I understand. Once you turned off the sound it's working okay right now in full screen mode?

i turned off sound and tried it again and i still crashed. Rebooted and turned off all options and tried it again and was able to play in full screen. Trying to setup so i can dual box.

Login screen is black wait 5 minutes and nothing

I believe I have run into a similar problem during my initial playing around, but my memory of how it was solved isn't coming to me. Fortuanately I normally take notes on what I'm doing so when I get home tonight I'll see what I can find and post. Don't panic yet!

OK my guess is VideoCard=32 should really be VideoCard=0

other settings
RefreshRate=60
BitsPerPixel=16
videoModeBitsPerPixel=16

My problem earlier was VideoCard=1 and when I changed it to 0 it fixed the problem. I had also changed some models to false but that probably doesn't relate to your problem.

When the system builds the eqclient.ini for the first time there are some settings that shouldn't be changed. If the above doesn't work, drag the eqclient ini file out of the current folder and therefore force a rebuild. Then change only the settings you now know are correct. You can always drag it back if you need to.
