Allakabor has the shield/armor "Item type" tag to tell the difference. I believe Book of Contemplation is equipable by all, but I know Lana uses hers sometimes for a shield.

I also believe that the shield search brings up items that aren't "obviously" shields.

I do! It's actually a great shield and you can even bash with it. I use it most of the time, unless using a 2H of course.

Out of curiosity, any thoughts on what a shield in the offhand would do for an Iksar BL in regards to tank ability? Reksar is approaching 1.5k buffed AC and has full defensive AA's. Its rare, but on occasion I have gotten called upon to rampage tank and would be interested in anyone's thoughts.

I don't think it would be as drastic as an 80 AC shield for a druid for value, but still...
