lets just get these put up before people start doing them. if you need i can throw together the thread and you can sticky it khama, but generally id like to see a few rules here. basic ones that most forums use:

no image test threads, or sig tests, or avatar tests. if you want to test an image link it in a reply window, make sure its not http://localhost, then hit preview, if the image shows there it will show on the thread. you can always go back and edit images as well (that is except rants forum). avatar/sig tests can be done by registered users by modifying your sig/avatar, then loading up a thread you have posted in, and viewing THAT post, your avatar/sig changes will update with previously posted threads.

irrelevant linking/spam, if you feel your link is useful to the topic in discussion or you have a question about a link that is relevant to the topic, then by all means post it, but if your link is irrelevant (fluff), spam, or whatever, example linking to your home page in a thread thats about an upcoming event but your link has nothing to do with the event, you just put it up to get people to come, then thats a no-no.
also i think that on dirty/vulgar/shock sites (the ones that scare the s* out of you, you know what i mean)/prank sites (browser bombs, noise spams, FBI investigation sites, so on), folks should label them. really people have been VERY good at doing this so far, they even mark the clean ones, thanks for being thoughtful all you who did that. anyway, some of us are at school/work and having a billion windows go off singing YOU ARE AN IDIOT HA HA HA HA HA HA, its really embarassing and can get you in trouble (THANK GOD that didnt get me in trouble), most of the time folks have popup blocks at home, but at work sometimes folks dont.

and maybe some regulations on flaming? so when folks get topics locked in the thread they dont go 'why did you lock it, this is the rants/flames forum', i think you know what topic im talking about, seeing as its the only one that got locked there so far.

anyway, anyone else have comments on this? additions?

btw, khama are you considering hiring on voulenteers to moderate? i read a topic and by the time i post theres like 10 more depending on the time of day, and i think you said youve been busy lately, so wondering how you manage to moderate all these posts now. the forum is growing so i suppose youll end up having some eventually right?

Actually, I am here quite a bit. I don't always post, I like watching the interaction between the rest of you. I chime in from time to time, offer a little advice if I can, but I check these boards a minimum of 12 - 20 times a day easy. ( And then some )

I will be taking on some moderators, but my first one or two will be hand picked. Not someone necessarily volunteering either. It will probably be someone you wouldn't expect, but who's opinion and cool demeanor you will have come to respect.

you mean you will hand pick them because nobody is volunteering at the moment or hand picking yourself for the first two and not accepting volunteers at first?

That or browbeat and verbally abuse those with newbie questions until they leave. Oh wait. Don't sound too moderate to me. :P
