Hello everyone! I was looking through some old files on my computer when i came across my copy of EQMac - which I probably haven't launched in a few years. Hearing that music swell up again sent a velium sword straight through my heart. So many memories made, lands explored, PoK hung out in... It really brings me back to when I was 19 and brash, inciting flame wars with neo-cons and attempting to take the MMO to new existential heights.

Regardless, I just wanted to let anyone looking for me, Uttama, or Karakos should direct their attention to World of Warcraft's Argent Dawn server. There the guild lives on as "Frozen Poets of Velious". My character's name is Matiusu, Uttama is still Uttama and Karakos plays as Deerhoof.

I also play FFXI - which is easily the greatest MMO I've ever played. Seriously, if you hardcore kids like the difficulty of EQ, you should give FFXI a spin. It's just not worth it if you don't lose exp when you die! I play on the Alexander server as a San d'Orian Hume male named Phinn. Now that I'm capped out and getting the season 3 arena gear in WoW, I really only play it for an hour or so a week. FFXI is definitely where my passions lie these days.

A couple years ago I attempted to play EQMac again - but I ended up just spending a weekend fishing around Freeport and that's about it. Once it got to the point where I needed to take a group into Splitpaw and I realized all of the lower level zones are baron wastelands, I gave it up once again. I'm sure I'll return again for nostalgia's sake eventually, but until that day I figured I'd let everyone know where I've been and what I've been up to. If you're a former Frozen Poet or friend of the poets who plays either WoW or FFXI, please drop on my server and say hello!

It's great to hear from you!

If you do stop in on eqmac, join the alliance channel (/join alliance) to be in touch (and not so abaondoned). I don't think we had channels yet when you were active, they really made a difference on our tiny server.

The lowest zones do tend to be pretty empty but we've got a nice crop of people moving through the midlevels.

Hmmmmm that kind of talk almost makes me want to pick up love again... I think he was 33 or so when I stopped. You're saying if I came back there might be people to level with? Hitting 65 (i think that's the EQmac level cap) would make me feel very awesome lol. I mean, I've been playing a lot of MUDs recently - and EQ is about the closest thing to a 3D MUD there's ever been (i think people were originally outraged when it came out, because they thought EQ was built using a particular MUD's codebase XD).

I dunno though - we'll have to see. I'm currently actively in FFXI and WoW - so one of those i'll have to get bored with before I reup on EQMac. What is the monthly fee these days?

Same as it was when you left. :)

The one nice thing SOE didn't change was the cost to play. Still like $13 a month - $120 a year.

Heck if you play any other SOE games, EQmac is included in their Session Pass. That's why I tend to poke my head in from time to time. SOE releases a game that I am interested in and I renew my Session pass and revisit my old faves
