Transmission went out of my truck this morning, and the backup vehicle is dead. :( It's gonna cost $2500 plus labor for the transmission. I really hope i can get this done quick. Really want to play on a mac server lol

That's too bad. The '04 and newer 1500 Rams have better than average transmission reliability. You are unlucky :(

If you don't need a big truck, you can get an older saturn/honda/toyota compact and save money on gas and purchase!

Check if there is a Pull-A-Part near where you live. They sell trannys for under 200 dollars. If you aren't capable of pulling it yourself, offer one of the drunk looking guys standing outside 100 dollars to go in and pull it for you. I never buy parts anywhere else, because they are sooooooooo incredibly cheap.

At Memphis Pull-A-Part transmission with the torque converter is 41.57, add 12.67 for a warranty, 8 dollar core charge.

It's great when you have a source that can install (and also go over the tranny and rebuild it) or if you have the knowledge and tools to do yourself. Unfortunately, most do not have the source available and must pay through the nose for major car repairs. Also, most repair shops will not touch a job when a customer supplies a used part. You might get away with finding a shop that will rebuild the one you have (if salvageable) or rebuild one from a salvage yard.
