I learned that the hard way early in my EQ career. I had a level 60 monk (cap at the time) that was in Gfay a lot. I would always bank run down one level and then walk off the bridge and took minimal fall damage. One day I was meeting a guy to buy his Fungi Tunic from him for 40k and found out that if you are overweight you take way way more damage. Long ass run back to Gfay from Cabilis.

Not quite the same thing with a horse but if you lag even the tinyest fall can seem big to the server. Very dangerous to be running around and apparently riding horses with lots of plat.
